Flag Media is a multi-faceted media company. Established in 1996 as a freelance news agency, it has expanded into independent magazine publishing, editorial consultancy and media training built around practical newsroom experience.

It is led by Paul Kelbie, a journalist with more than 40 years’ experience across national newspapers, international news agencies, magazine publishing and consultancy. As well as reporting, he worked on the news desks of the Daily Mail, People, The Times, Daily Telegraph and The Independent, deciding news agendas, commissioning coverage and managing reporting teams. His work has appeared in publications around the world, from Australia to Zimbabwe.

Flag Media has delivered media training and crisis communications sessions for universities, local and national government departments, emergency services and businesses in sectors ranging from aviation and defence to travel and tourism.

Today the company continues to operate as an active publisher, producing several magazines and contributing stories to external outlets. This ongoing editorial involvement ensures its guidance reflects how media decisions are made in practice rather than theory.
